Ken,

I am amazed! I ordered a Pennsy Cap and a Sweatshirt on Saturday,  I thought since I was on the East Coast it would be at least a week before I received them.

I have never seen service that fast on anything I've ordered.  Monday afternoon around 1 pm the mail person walked up to the door with two separate packages and to my amazement it was my cap and sweatshirt.  Both items look nicer than the pictures of them on your web site.

Thumbs up for great service.

Hi Ken,

I'm Tom Lachtrupp and my Dad is Lloyd Lachrtupp and was on the Pennsy during WWII.  You may remember I bought two prints back in May and promised to send you a picture of Dad with the one I gave him for Father's day.  Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you.  The prints are great!!  And Dad really liked his.  Anyway, here is the photo.

Thanks again for all you have done and are doing to keep the memory of BB-38 alive!!

First, I want to thank you for adding my father's name to the Memorial List. It is quite moving to see his name there. I wish he were still here to see it for himself.

And, I received the book on the Pennsylvania. It is quite an impressive story. I am very proud that my father was among those who served on this ship.

Thank you again.

Thanks again for making it possible for me to purchase these for him.  Keep
up the good work and I'll be visiting your site every chance I get.

Mr. Munro,

I have purchased the "Reign of Fire" print to hang in my office here at Texas A&M University. There are many reasons why I like this print. The first is that I am a World War II history buff. The second is that I am from Pennsylvania and I am proud of the states veterans who have fought in all wars. I have a co-worker who collects Civil War prints and he showed me some prints by Mark Churms and I was immediately impressed with his work. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the Arizona the sister ship of the Pennsy? If this was the case it would be nice to commission Mr. Churms to do a painting that depicted the two ships, one as a ghost (Arizona) along side the other (Pennsy) firing a salvo. Call it "A Sister's Fury".

I do enjoy your web site. I am ashamed of what they did with the Pennsy at the end of the war. A great ship with a distinguished battle record should have been treated with more respect.

Texas A&M University is very proud of its military history with the Corps of Cadets. I am sure as people see this print in my office they will enjoy it as much as I will.

Thanks for your note.

Dear Ken,
I wanted to write you again to thank you so much for all your help. I
received the books I ordered from you and they are very nice. I am enjoying
reading all the stories and the pictures in them. Please tell the young
ladies what a wonderful job they did on their History 2000 project. I know
you are very proud of it.

I did get a letter from Mr. Lloyd Lachtrupp and it was a wonderful surprise,
for he had been in the same Division (1st) with Charles and the other 3 men
who were killed on Feb 11, 1944. He knew Charles personally and remembered
talking with him. He sent me his phone number and I called to talk to him and
thanked him for answering my letter. He told me that when those men were
killed that they had a service on the ship for them and then they were taken
on a barge to a small island for a temporary burial. There were about 16 men
who went on the barge with the bodies as pallbearers and Mr. Lachtrupp was one
of them. He was also happy to hear from me, as he never knew what had
happened with those men after that day and he was glad to hear that Charles
had been buried in the National Cemetery in Hawaii. He said he had been to
the cemetery 3 times and did not know that Charles was there but would be
sure to look if he ever went again. I was so happy to get to talk to him. He
was a very kind and understanding gentleman.

He is not online, but I told him of your website and maybe he could go to his
local library and look at the your website there. He said he would like to
see it.  He said he had some more pictures that he would send me of the ship
and maybe a 1st Division picture that Charles and the other men would be in.

I can't begin to tell you how much getting all this information has meant to
me. I will remember always how much help Mr. Wade Cunningham, Mr. Jess
Dennis, Mr. LLoyd Lachtrupp and your father and yourself have given me. All
the men on the USS Pennsylvania were truly a big family and now here it is 55
years later and you are still helping to ease the minds of the families of
those who lost loved ones from the ship. I thank you from the bottom of my
heart for your kindness to me and Charles family.  It makes me so proud and
happy to see Uncle Charles picture on the website. It is a great honor to his
memory.  I thank you also for everything else on the website you have made to
honor everyone who served on the ship. You have done a fantastic job.  I want
you to know I send my deepest respect to your father and all the other men
who served their country during WWII. I consider them all American Heroes.

Again, THANK YOU for everything.

Ken, thank you so much for this great gift to my dad. He is 81 now and
served in the 30's on this magnificent ship. He will be transformed back to
an 18 year old kid again. The web site is great. I downloaded the history,
unfortunately it does not contain much on the ship prior to WWII. Nonetheless,
a great find for me. I would like to inquire though about the pictures of the
ship in the 30's. Are they available for sale? They would make an additionally
great gift.

Again thank you,

Jack Kennedy

Ken,

Just wanted to tell you my father-in-law loved the hat. I also got additional info as to when he was on the USS Pennsylvania. He was on 12/42 thru 10/44 or 11/44. He also advised me he was in Division 7 not "C" in one of the anti-aircraft divisions. He was a Gunners Mate 3rd class and worked on the Quad Forty MM gun. He then went onto the Bristol till he left the service. Hope this helps.

Hi Ken,

Dick received the shirt and hat today. He is very pleased with both. Shirt fits fine and with the hat it is, as my young great grandkids say---COOL!

Thanks again Ken for making this possible. We leave Thursday for Battle Creek and Marshall Michigan for a visit with my brothers. I bet it will be cool up there. We are finally getting a little rain today. We are 11 1/2 inches below normal and are desperate for lots of rain. I did have over 200 azaleas in the yard but they are dying so fast. It is so hard to watch. We have been on a total watering ban for over 2 months...........

Ken:
I ordered and received a hat, tee-shirt and sweat shirt for my husband as a surprise Christmas gift. I just received them and they are very, very nice. I know he will get much enjoyment from wearing them. We both read the notices we receive from your web site (but I hid the one about the hats, etc) and look forward to more. Thank you again for organizing and running this site.
